How to Un-Install (remove) Payroll Pro

General

Payroll Pro does not take up alot of space on your computer, so leaving Payroll Pro on your computer will not be a problem. It does not do anything in the background when it is not running, so when not being used does not take up any resources. However, if you would like to remove Payroll Pro from your computer for reasons such as moving to a new computer, or deciding not to purchase after trialling, to keep things tidy, the following will explain how to do this.

Step 1

Exit all programs and restart your computer before beginning.

Step 2

Go to the "Control Panel" and choose "Programs and Features".

If you can't see the option "Programs and Features", you may be in "Category View", in which case look for "Programs / Uninstall a Program" and click "Uninstall a Program".

Step 3

Look for "FiveStar Payroll Pro" in the list of programs.

Double click "FiveStar Payroll Pro" to select it.

You will be asked if you would like to completely remove "FiveStar Payroll Pro" and all of it's components. Answer "Yes".

The message "FiveStar Payroll Pro was successfully removed from your computer" will appear. Click OK.

Step 4

Payroll Pro uses the "Borland Database Engine" to access its data. The "Borland Database Engine" is installed when Payroll Pro is installed. However many other programs also use the "Borland Database Engine" so it might have been installed before installing Payroll Pro.

Leaving the "Borland Database Engine" on your computer will not do any harm, but if you are sure no other programs use it you can remove it. If you remove the "Borland Database Engine" and some other program stops working, then it is likely that the other program requires the "Borland Database Engine". In this case you would need to contact the supplier of the other software to get help re-installing the "Borland Database Engine" for that software.

As in Step 2, Go to the "Control Panel" and choose "Programs and Features". You may already be here if you have just completed the previous steps.

If you can't see the option "Programs and Features", you may be in "Category View", in which case look for "Programs / Uninstall a Program" and click "Uninstall a Program".

Look for "Payroll Pro Database" in the list of programs, and double click to select it.

You will be asked if you would like to uninstall "Payroll Pro Database". Answer "Yes".

You may get a further message asking if you would like to Modify, Repair or Remove the program.
Select REMOVE and click "Next >".
Then click "Remove" on the next window.

Step 5

The PayPro folder and it's sub folders will still be on your computer. You can leave these if you like (they wont take much space), or you can delete these through "Computer". The following assumes Payroll Pro is installed in it's default folder C:\PayPro. If you changed the drive letter and/or folder name during installation or after installation, then use the new drive and/or folder name instead of C: and PayPro.

To delete, select "Computer", then locate your hard drive C:

Look for PayPro, and delete this, along with it's subfolders.

Step 6

Restart your computer.

The removal process is complete.
