How to Install Payroll Pro

The Setup File

The full setup file for Payroll Pro can be saved to your computer by clicking here. However please read the following instructions before doing this.

Payroll Pro should be fully installed - it will not work if just copied from one computer to another. The reason for this is that the installation process will install some files which do not transfer from one computer to another by copying.

The quickest way to install Payroll Pro is by saving the setup file - see the link above - onto your computer and then running it.

When downloading using Internet Explorer: If using Windows Vista or Windows 7 you will need to save the file into a folder - eg c:\foldername - rather than just onto the C: drive. You may have a downloads folder already on your hard drive. If not you may need to use "My Computer" or "Computer" to create a folder. Often when downloading a file you are given the option to create a folder at the same time.

When downloading using Google Chrome or FireFox: Some browsers such as these automatically select a folder for the downloaded file to be saved in, and have options for running the file after downloading.

If you cannot remember where you put the downloaded file, you can download it again.

Where to install Payroll Pro

It is best to use the default location provided during installation - ie the folder PayPro. We recommend that you do NOT install into the "Program Files" folder, as some later versions of Windows including Vista and Windows 7 have some security features which block some programs from using all their functions when installed in the Program Files folder.

After Installing Payroll Pro

You should restart your computer after installing Payroll Pro.

When your computer restarts and you run Payroll Pro, you will be given the message that Payroll Pro is still running under a trial licence. A trial licence allows 30 days of use or 3 payruns to be processed before a full licence needs to be purchased.

If you are a licenced user of Payroll Pro and have just installed Payroll Pro on a new computer, please click here for more information.
